Golf

Our 1939 Perry Maxwell design, which was recently restored in 2013 by architects Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw, is currently ranked No 23 on Golfweek Magazine's list of the Top 100 'Classical" designs in America, and No. 59 in GOLF Magazine's list of the Top 100 golf courses in the United States. Located right next door to the campus of Wake Forest University, Old Town has been the official home of Demon Deacon golf for many decades.

Golf Course Archives & History

"Much of Old Town's brilliance stems from its undulating terrain and routing. Any serious student of golf architecture must first go to Old Town to see how Mr. Maxwell laid out the course over such a remarkable piece of land. Given the hole variety and the fact that it's still very walkable, that's quite an accomplishment. It has always served as the cornerstone for my early understanding of what extraordinary golf architecture was all about."
